The Image Format Converter lets you convert images between JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF formats directly in your browser — no software installation, no server uploads. Different image formats serve different purposes: JPEG offers excellent compression for photographs but does not support transparency; PNG supports transparency and lossless compression, making it ideal for logos and graphics; WebP is a modern format offering superior compression for both photos and graphics with optional transparency; and GIF supports animation but is limited to 256 colours. Converting between formats is a routine need — you might receive a PNG and need a JPEG for email, or require a WebP version of a JPEG for website performance. This tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API to decode the input image and re-encode it in the target format, all within the browser.
Upload your image by dropping it onto the tool or clicking to browse. Select the target output format from the format dropdown (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF). For JPEG and WebP, adjust the quality slider to balance size and fidelity. Click Convert and then Download to save the converted file.
